Notes from Artist Kathryn Maxwell

2/9/12

Kathryn Maxwell is a printmaking and mixed media artist. She got her M.F.A from the University of Wisconsin and a B.A. from Northwestern university she teaches printmaking at Arizona State University.

Maxwell interesting in other cultures has influenced her work, as well science, she uses DNA images to form her images. I found her work vibrant and interesting.

In her exhibition framed by appearance she explained that sometimes people make judgments of other people and overall the world. Heads of states is a series of wigs and is about things that are not what they mean to be, for example royal wigs represent royal and power, however once you take it off you are nobody.
